 Help needed: car starts but goes off right away.

i really need someone's advice with this, the car is a corona 78'
and just today it wasn't starting properly, you turn the key and the car will start but as soon as you let go of the key the car goes off, i'm thinking it might be electrical, or something to do with the ignition coil, but i'm not sure, has anyone else had this problem? what wouold be the likely culprit? any help will be greatly appreciated.

sounds like the main fuse.
is the red 'charge' light coming on?
from memory it should be about a 20amp fuse or there abouts.

did you check all the fuses? all of them.. you never know whats happened with the wiriing in the past or who has worked on it

i'll have to check, i'll get back to u soon on that.
i woulda thought that if the fuse was blown that it wouldn't work at all, as it still starts, it just doesn't stay on unless you hold the key on.

I once did that while driving.. took a while.. I checked everything.. then I thought... hmm.. checked fuses, ended up being the one makred "engine"
I could turn the key it'd crank and start.. I could even rev it while I had the key fully turned, but as soon as I relesed the key it would shut off.

bugman your a legend, works perfectly now, about 3 fuses replaced, had to roll start it as the battery was flat, but it started perfect and stayed on. :)-

go through and change all the fuses, them glass fuses are shit.. just change em all to be on the safe side
