Pictures, info and hell, even opening it could be a great help...

dude, he's got a point.
Rolex have a massive range in their prices, so it's essential to know what model it is.
But I'd really suggest taking it back to the shop that the person bought it for you got it from. And if they "don't know" where they got it from, I'd suggest giving it back to them. Looking at the back of my relatively cheap raymond weil watch, it's got a seriel number on it. I'm sure the Rolex would too.
