from what i've been told, just the exhaust side engine mount has to be shortened by 11mm, everything else is bolt in.

go here for more info-
http://users.senet.com.au/~mezz/3tginfo.htm

however the stock box probably won't take the power. I've heard people running their T50s with 3TGTEs for over a year, but not sure how hard they drive it.

W55/57/58 gearboxs are good upgrades, but gearbox mounts and i think the tailshaft must be modified.

Dont mean to hi-jack the thread...

Mine past engineer cert with everything else stock. Running factory 3t-gte ecu was the only requirement.
Though it is recommended for your own sake to upgrade brakes etc.

This was ra28 though which is heavier and stock has 2ltr engine.

i'm also interested about the 22s. I've been told in the past that the requirements depend on the engineer at the time, but since the car has to pass a braking test when it gets checked over then upgrading the brakes are usually done to make sure the car will definately pass rego. Im quite confident my brakes would fail any requirements. so maybe swapping the brakes from an RA23 to a TA22 is a sufficient upgrade? or maybe just upgrading brake pads is enough?

I had a ta22 with 3tgt, a number of things had to be changed for the conversion, however very little needed changing for the engineering.
Engine sat on modified crossmember, I cant remember the details.

We used the stock gearbox that came with the 3tgt (W57 ?), using a custom GB mount and tailshaft.

Brakes were stock all round, and rather inadequate even though they were legal. WE did put in some good pads on advice from the engineer, he listed that as "brake upgrade" on the certificate !!

Once we put the FM intercooler in we had to move the battery to the boot to allow for the plumbing.

The stock ta22 diff held up for the time I had the car though we changed to a 3.7:1 centre cos the factory 4.1 was TOOOOOO short. (only 165 kmh top speed)the new center is a must, it was so short it wouldnt make full boost in second gear cos it wouldnt load it up enough !!

Car went well , but I wouldnt recomend the conversion to anyone, unless they were going to rebuild the 3t with forgies etc. They are simply too old and too fragile.

just about any conversion ( 4 cyl efi) will cost the same or similar, so you may as well put in a good engine (3sgte Smile)

Good luck

Matt
