on the 18rgeu (factory EFI) the water temp sensor (toyota code THW) is located on the thermostat housing.
The 18rgeu actually has a different thermostat housing to the normal carby version to clear the throttle body. I think there is a spot on the normal carby thermo housing to take a water temp sensor though. As for what thread - i have NO IDEA

REALLY WHEN I GOT MY EMS THE SENSOR SCREWED STRAIGHT IN TRY 1/4 BSPT BUT ON THE OTHER HAND IS JAP SO IT SHOULD BE METRIC BUT ON THE MIDDLE LEG MOST PLUGS AND FITTINGS THAT HAVE SOMETHING WITH TO DO WITH SEALING WITH NO WASHER ARE BSPT.

it will depend on what hole you use there is 3, top and centre are 3/8bspt the third is 1/4 bspp side hole is 1/8bspt

the 18rc sensor is the same as the 18rg, you could just grab a sensor from the wreckers off an 18rc.
i think a lot of toyota engines have the same sensor around that era

I measured and I think it is 16mm x 1,5mm pitch. Does anybody concurr?

Temp sensore/switches are available in 16x1.5. Find a tridon book, this will list operating ranges and threads.
