18R-G water temp sensor question Fri, 22 April 2005 03:46 Go to next message
Does anybody know the size of the thread of a ECT (water temperature sensor) on a 18R-G?
I am installing a standalone ECU and I am having a hard time finding a suitable sensor.

on the 18rgeu (factory EFI) the water temp sensor (toyota code THW) is located on the thermostat housing.

The 18rgeu actually has a different thermostat housing to the normal carby version to clear the throttle body. I think there is a spot on the normal carby thermo housing to take a water temp sensor though. As for what thread - i have NO IDEA Smile

the 18rc sensor is the same as the 18rg, you could just grab a sensor from the wreckers off an 18rc.
i think a lot of toyota engines have the same sensor around that era
