The ST185 GT4s arnt too bad to service as long as you have small hands.
Ive had no major troubles getting to those hard to reach places.
And at 12 psi I get 550kms out of 55 litres. Bp ultimate.
The syncros is the gearbox tend to get old and feel tired.
Just makes the shift a little clunky. About $1000 to fix, labour and parts.
Ive had no dramas with mine. Usual stuff, clutches, timing belt, plugs/leads, brake pads that sort of thing is usually due to be replaced about 100 000. Mines got nearly 170 000kms.

get it leak tested for a possible Blown head gasket before you buy it ..
check rear diff mounts
check for excessive smoke from exhaust to indicate a turbo failure ..
check CV"S for wear + tear ..
Or get the NRMA to do a once over before hand - and ask them to be picky ..
otherwise its a pretty expensive avenue to walk to get major components running 100% again

Depending on where the car is I can probably come and have a look at it for you.
Things to look for:
-Busted CV boots
-Busted steering rack boots
-Turbo seals and shaft play
-Worn gearbox synchro's
-BHG (water in oil / oil in radiator / car running unusually hot)
-Dodgy wiring of aftermarket electronics
Also at 100,000km's check that the timing belt has been changed and that the platinum spark plugs have been changed... otherwise you've got 1k+ to spend as soon as you buy it.

good tune my ass, whats not like he can get his ecu reprogrammed like you can stu.
obvious culprits for poor economy
-Oxy Sensor
-Water Temp sensor
-Stuck Coldstart.
I dunno about you guys, but i always got around 550km's to 55L fuel, and thats driving it hard.

Maybe 350Km on a full tank. But that's on 95RON because you can't get 98 anywhere at all in this state.

Yeah gotta test those sensors I think. Gotta find the article on testing the 02, and I think my coldstart sensor might be rooted, the connector has broken off but the conductors still seem to be connected. I'm hoping that's the problem, say if the coldstart sensor was rooted, would that make the coldstart injector work all the time? i.e. stuck open?
Anyone got a spare one?!
