wheel stud sheared clean off.... Sat, 23 April 2005 04:24 Go to next message
One of the studs on my ae86 sheared clean off the other night and I ended up having to sleep in my car by the side of the road because it was too dangerous driving home in that state.
Im going to get a new hub.

Do I need an ae86 hub or can I use ke70/ae71 etcetc.

Are there any more options?

Thanks
Gavin

1. Buy SW20 wheel studs from Toyota for $2.20 each.
2. Take hubs off
3. Press new studs in.
4. ????
5. Profit

the "business" end doesn't cop as much stress as the front end.. I reckon the cornering I do puts more stress on the front studs than my accelerating does on my rears. plus I don't want to have to reassemble my handbrake drums if it can be avoided Smile

Aye, the other good thing with SW20 studs is that they are a good 5-6mm longer than the stock 86 studs.

You can buy replacement studs at Repco. One of mine was sheared off when a shop used a rattlegun Rolling Eyes Wasn't a hard job to knock it out and put the new one in, though this was at the back.
