carbs vs EFI Sun, 17 November 2002 09:46 Go to next message
hey, recently got an 18r-g with twin solex's that came with a few EFI bits..

so should we go for some webbers OR should we get the missing EFI bits and go that way instead??

Thoughts/comments?

if its a high compression 18rg - stick with the carbs

if its an 18rgU you could try adapting her back to EFI - but youll need all the other electronic goodies like the ECu and sensors ..

if you want to tourbo later on - convert to EFI - your job will be easier

How do we find out the CR?
it's acutally a 18R-GU, but i believe it has been the subject of some mods. cams. etc.
is it a head off job??

does anyone know where to go to get a full set of gaskets for these things??

thanks.

IMO fuel injection is always better than twin carbs on a street-driven car. I fail to see what compression ratio has to do with it, EFI will work equally well on an early high-compression 18R-G.

No, you don't have to remove the head to convert to EFI - you just bolt on the manifold/plenum and hook everything up.

Hey Juzzo,
No pics, only just got it on the weekend.
But feel free to come and have a look at it some time.
I'm only in Dundas, so not too far.
