Just thinking, because its impossible to get the 22rte manifold is it worth(possible) to get a different manifold like a 3tgte manifold and change the part which bolts on to the head!!!!
or is it just as cheap/easy to get one made up????
Mate if it were me I would look into getting one made from steam pipe or Stainless if its for show. By the time you Buy a manifold and then have it alloy welded you would be up for a fair Bill anyway.
Best bet is pay a little extra for one that works alot better ! At the end of the day I'm sure you would be happier with the result.
The only turbo manifold that will bolt up to an R series engine is the 22R-TE manifold, which is a very poor design anyway. A 3T-GTE manifold will have no chance of working, the port spacing is just totally different.
Getting a custom manifold fabricated isn't that expensive if you go to the right place to have it done. I was quoted $3-400 for a 4 cylinder not long ago, that's fabricated out of steam pipe with a flange to suit the turbo of my choice. That's good value IMO.
