Brake shudder/car shudder.

for all you brake gurus out there....helped my mate replace his rotors and pads in the front of his car - basically to no avail.
when you put your foot on the brake the car shudders - the steering wheel or brake pedal DO NOT - whole frigging car shudders/vibrates like its going to fall apart (typical commodore)
took out the ABS fuse - in case the ABS circuit was causing issues or something - no change.
when the brakes are cold as - is ok - as soon as they heat up - crap. same problem.
only thing i can think of is its the rear rotors causing this problem......
any ideas out there?

havent got any specific answers but more of the same problem.
I did the r33 brake upgrade into mx83 cressida.
17" wheels,BA ford slotted rotors with r33 4 pot calipers. All credit for sorting this mod belongs to John of importbitz to my knowledge.Well done john.
Anyway, fitted these parts which includes a spacer between the wheel and hub plus a similiar spacer between rotor and hub.
The spacer is a ring to fill the space between a hub which is too small and a wheel or rotor designed for a hub with a larger Outside diamater [O.D.]
Initially all was OK but after a trip 2000K,s return the brakes slowly developed a monumental shudder which made me shudder each time I reluctantly touched the brake pedal.
I have since removed, cleaned, filed and checked all components more than once to find an improvement on road test but not perfect and it progressively goes to an ever increasing shudder.
Its a piss off for sure, particularly when the problem must be extremely simple and I cant sort it.Doh!

michael.......the rears are disc but with the internal drum brake shoes for the handbrake. my guess is they are dragging or have dragged in the past and warped the internals of the rotor where the shoe sits thus causing the problem.
pete.....are the rims you're running the correct offset? although you do make mention of the fact that it goes away initially then comes back....

yeah wheels are OK as they were on Southos cressida originally and have also been fine on this car.I fel I need to get my hands on a dial indicator which displays "run-out" on a rotating surface.I have been totally focusing on the front and of course it could easily be the rear.[warped disc] stiiiiiiiiill looking..

NORMAL...! crappy holdens
shudder felt thru steering wheel = front disks
shudder felt thru floor, gear leaver = rear shudder
caused by warped disks with excessive runout or disk thickness variation around the disk
check how thick the disks are cause early commo's (vn-vs) have thin rear disks and can wear, warp and leads to this
u need to get the disks machined and make sure the hubs r clean of rust n shit so the disks sit flush when u put em back on
