sv21 st162 gearbox

is it the same model gearbox in the sv21 camry 3sfe as the st162 3sfe and 3sge...
is the sv21 3sfe and st162 3sge gearbox the same thing???
anyone, anyone????

There not the same, but they are interchagenable. If that helps.

Tomayto, Tomarto,
Both are S-53 transmissions
starter motors in different locations however.

Yeah, what he said. The S53 found on the ST162 3SGE has the starter motor mounted on the block side of the flywheel, whereas the Camry and Celica 3SFE ones has the starter on the other side. Because of this, the Celica 3SGE gearbox isn't compatible with any other 3S motor unless you perform dicey modifications to the flywheel. I believe final drive ratios are also different.

yer the sv21 camry box 5th gear is a bit taller... pushs u out to 270k's an hour not that i know lol

chriss - You don't have to change flywheel.The driveshafts will fit.
