Of course it was dead last time it was on the night before both the Drift Nats and Round 2 of the Drift Australia comp! Most of the regulars would have been on their way to either Melbourne or Adelaide. Round 2 of the IDA state drift comp is on 7 May so the 29th Twilight Drift is your last chance to practice

Exactly.. And as far as weeks before that go, I think everyone is just having car problems, hell literally all of the dirty ibis crew is off the road. But the spectators have still been really really strong. Last time even though there was the least amount of cars I've seen, it was probably the 2nd or 3rd biggest crowd I've seen there for a twilight drift!
Hell it should be a no brainer for everyone to go every single time.. or if everyone stops going then it'll stop getting run.

i entered as a last minute thing. was a big day for me.
i was at wakefield park at the track day havin some drift fun when another guy in a S12 told me that twilight night was on.
2 1/2 hours later there i was.
it was a bit dead there only about 12 or so cars, but it was wierd, the track was so slippery, i was spinning out everywhere.
they were having qualifying sessions on the high speed track. they picked 4 cars and will pick another 4 for the three twilight nights, to go into a top 16 eliminations battle in a few months.
i did ok on the hi speed track, i wonder if i made it?

Corona; yeah its its just a blue top 16v with a shitty ehaust with a massiv hole in it. ive been meaning to cahnge it but every1 says it sounds mad on the drift track, even some old dude said the same thing. wierd
id like to see the pics im starting a wall of shame at home i want a whole wall of just me!!
TA 022; dont worry about looking bad, thats what practise nights are for, you cant learn and not make a mistake.
get a mate of yours (or someone else) to lock the diff (ask for a mig special )and then book yourself in and have shitloads of fun.

There were about a bazillion people there on friday, and quite a long list of cars to match. Was a top night, however I didnt enjoy making a fool of myself on the nats track... Everytime Id approach that mainstraight corner 5 different entry methods would rush through my head which would usually have me end up doing some half assed miscalculated entry.. and when i got it perfect someone would spin ahead of me.
TA: I was in the AE86 without the wing, and I have a locker (only because i cant afford LSD just yet) It does the job, but I find you kinda have to be brutal with it, Tad more of a learning curve then LSD id say.

i have to agree with this, i am in the exact same boat. cant afford a LSD but am making the most of a welded diff. the worst bit is trying to park the thing, other than that i have no complaints with it. it goes 2 wheels all day, evry day and i have not snapped 1 axle yet despite my sincerest efforts on and off the track.
however the choice remains yours, if you not ok with it then dont let me push you.

aight so welded doesnt sound toooo bad.
might buy a spare.... then weld mine.
knowing my luck anytime i do anything alittle bit dodge... i get caught out. (stoopid 2 burnout fines in 1 month )

It is shocking to drive on street though, i try and avoid roundabouts and reverse parking into spots... Just makes me cringe about what its doing to my panhard mounts (since i already snapped the chassis mid-drift there already).

Hehe, hard choice huh. Although.. My friend (AE86 also) also got his welded at a different place and he never had the 'shuddering' around corners like I do.. and the diff carked it after a few drift nights and daily driving. You would think the welds would get destroyed before the chassis cutting open! (in the case of the AE86 S series centre, the holes leading to the teeth in the centre are too small to weld properly so the guy who did mine used a different method) inwhere the welds will eventually let go and be chewed up in the centre, probably killing it at the same time. Though it hasnt happened yet and Ive already re-welded the chassis panhard wedge once already. Hopefully ill get an LSD before it happens again. =/

my diff is aus spec, but i pulled the diff centre out and actually pulled it apart to weld, it will not break and mash things up, i made sure of that.
as for the skipping and jumping it depends on your tyres mostly. my cheap drift stockies chirp and jump more than my street tyres. and when turning they only chirp when the car is going slow anything above 30k's and they dont make a peep
BUT, a word of warning, my car is potentially lethal in the wet, so its slow cornering for me.
i reckon buy a spare and try it, the worst that can happen is youll love it and end up doing a mad burnout and not stop untill the red/blue lights flash.
