When does touchup paint turn into a full respray? Mon, 18 November 2002 11:40 Go to next message
I've just purchased a Celica- oh what a wonderful morning...ohhh wait, I never liked that tune anyway-
and it's got a few scratches on the side panels but most importantly the front spoiler looks like it's been driven over a high driveway each morning.

Do I touch up the blemishes or go for the full respray?
Have damn limited cash funds at the moment, so this is more of a short-term project here.

Also...
how easy is it to spot touch up jobs?? Never done it on my own car before.[Taking into account this will more than likely be a 'home' job]

to avoid any confusion...

i mean respray the front spoiler not the whole car

just trying to guage the effectiveness of 'touchups'

it isnt hard just to respray the front spoiler. it will also look a lot better+ it wont cost much if you take it on your self! Smile you said that you had never done it on your own car befor, have you done it on some elses?

definitely sounds like teh car just needs touching up. repray should only be considered when most of the panels needs some attention. a respray in this instance sounds overkill

The respary of the front bar will depend on how bad it is and how much repair work is needed

sorry, bad wording.

I've never done it on anyones car...
I'd rather learn on my own rather than destroy someones pride and joy Very Happy

thanks for the replies btw fellas...

basically it's a little rough underneath and there's very little original colour for a big chunk of it...

just wanna make sure i don't destroy the whole spoiler by using the wrong materiels / spending too much money etc etc..

mmm..that makes it sound worse than it is..

if you don't focus from a low angle you can hardly see it

also want to make sure that i know all the correct procedures so that i don't make it look like a liquid paper job
