now i rebilt my 2tgue with the crank from a 3tgte and new 1mm over sized pistons and got them fly cut. got the head rebilt now i put it all together and i think number 3 piston is hitting the ex vavle. now what could of done this if they where all fly cut the same depth? im yet to pull the head off and have a look but i think its only just tapping the top of the piston. it still runs well but just rattly. still got stock cams so thats not a problem. should i get out the shot gun and take out the nee caps off the guy that did the pistons? or is it not his falt. any info would be great

Are you sure its not the timing chain making the rattling noise ?
Have you checked the clearance between the buckets and the cams ?
Otherwise it might even be a good idea to pull the head off and have a good look see.

yeah the shims where done bye a work shop so all that is spot on. the cam cain is nice and tight. the loud clatter is coming from there rear of the head ex port side so it sounds like a vavle just cliping the piston. i might pull the plug out and have a good look but it will be hard to see in there coz the hole is so deap.

what? the only way shit GETS done is by ranting and raving. just walk in, be "firm but fair" and blame him for fucking it up...
its his fault for not doing it properly... although, if he did make a mistake first hand, be a little more forgiving, but if he starts blaming you, pull out said *hypothetical* shottie.
in order for me not to get placed on probation, this means that you pull out all the stops, show him the facts and basically show him why its his fault

And then you see a solicitor, who if they know their stuff will get in touch with the people that handle this side of things.
Mvira (Is that them ?) will ask you some questions tear the motor down do some nerdie science stuff and hand the motor back to your mechanic with a bill

hate to say it but you may not get anywhere, because you should have checked all your piston to valve clearances before starting it up, did you wind it over by have before starting it and feel any binding or any noises?
good luck with it anyway, just dont hold your breath

You can try to get them to take it on - be calm and firm in order to get the best result (and don't be distracted from the facts with any kind bitching).
Ultimately YOU are the ENGINE BUILDER and everything should be checked while BUILDING THE ENGINE.
Keep it simple and straight forward and you will probably be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
