Flex pipe, worthwhile?

Is it worthwhile getting a flex join installed on my exhaust system?
At the moment it is 3inch stainless with no flex join. If it scrapes on anything it is on the end of the muffler at the rear, though I have scraped the bottom of the downpipe once or twice.
Im assuming I would have to hit it pretty hard to crack my exhaust manifold or break anything?
What are people's thoughts?

flex joins are usually for FWD, since the engine naturally will rock fore and aft, and the flex join allows this.. on a RWd tho...?
hmm, maybe raise the points that hit if they are too low now...

id get one, my mate cracked the front pipe on his silvia becuase he did not have one, you want to have some play in your exhaust to reduce the amount of stress on it, especially if you trash the car hard and do hard launches etc

If your engine is moving around enough to crack the exhaust I'd suggest it's time to replace the engine mounts. Under normal circumstances there shouldn't be enough movement to cause problems like this. I certainly haven't had any problems and the 2JZ has a shiteload of torque!

nope, engine mounts were fine...i guess is exhaust might have been bolted to the chassis in too many places not allowing any movement at all and over time it cracked
