	| i think its safe to say ud be looking at upwards of $1000 for the rebuild, depending on what gets replaced, but it sounds like you wont get off light in that department. Best option would be the second hand box.

	| Drain your oil, inspect it to see whats in it take the sump plug out, drain the oil, then take the whole sump off, some of the bigger metal chunks n shit might still be around the edges...

do this BEFORE you think of getting a new box...

after you drain it, bung in some redline oil or something... drive it around and see if its any better...

	| they dont tend to last to long once theyve been crunched a few times. The gze gearboxes are alot stronger from what im told.
A few of my mates drive the ae82 twin cams and they had crunching gearboxes so my mate who is a service mechanic reccomended they switch to automatic transmission oil worked a treat and they get thrashed regularly at wakefield no problems.

	| well without them your car wont drive
there 2 shafts one on each side(pasengar and drivers side) that go from the gearbox to the wheel hub and drive the front wheels (in your application)
