alternator not working (4agze)

i have just put this motor into my ae82.i got the motor from asian auto spairs and i payed $2500 for the half cut and so far i think it has a blown head gasket and the alternator dose not charge, dose anyone know where the wires are ment to go from the alternator ,2 fat white wires from one point and at the back of the alternator a 3 plug socket with 3 small wires coming out of it.

does. dose.
2 fat white wires go to the alternator fuse at the battery - these wires do the charging.
There will also be a yellow, white, and black/red wire - these are field, sense and warning light - if you take a careful look at the alternator, you'll notice that they're even marked

me and my mate have done the convertion and he was helping me with the alternator to ,we have changed the brushes and repaced the fuse at the batt(100amp)and were still getting no charge what else would it be?.i seen on a nother sight that he said that he forgot to plug it in to IC what is that, maybe i have forgoten that or it might be the regulator? i dont know please help i am stuck playing musical batterys till then.

make sure the field wire has a seperat switched 12V (ie. not just tied to the big white wires) the alternator won't work without it. I had the same problem when i did my conversion.

the field wire is either the yellow or the black/red. mrshin says it's marked on the alternator. Other wise, start the car and put +12V onto each of the little wires coming from the alternator one at a time. When you get the right one you will hear the idle drop 1-200 rpm and you should be able to measure about 14V on the battery. If it still won't work you must have a dead alt.
