	| 5SFE "BOV" - like rattle/hiss | Mon, 02 May 2005 04:18 | | |
	| My mate is looking to purchase an ST184 with only 70000km, the car is pristine apart from a funny noise it makes when you back off the throttle that sounds a lot like a soft BOV. It sounds as if it may be something rotating, perhaps a loose nut somewhere on the exhaust manifold. I really don't know what it could be. Compression is good, starts well and runs smoothly with plenty of pull.
Any ideas? I can't really describe the noise any better than that. this car has done 3000km per year since new.

	| When no-one replies, usually means no-one knows

 My guess
-air bouncing off the throttle. I can get the same sound in my ute sometimes.
 -air leak

your guess would be as good as mine.

	| my st184 at times generally when cruising you could hear the air rushing past the throttle plate. generally only happened when you had the throttle *just* open like then you are highway crusing.. never caused any greif. | |

	| Sp we're not talking terminal problems here? Is it fixable/replaceable? Is it a detriment to the value of a car? | |
