anyone with running rich probs Mon, 02 May 2005 11:06 Go to next message
just to let everyone know

i had to go fix a car today

fukin checked everything on the ecu

nothin was faulty but car ran like shit

what i eventually found was hose goin form turbo to intake had popped off due to shit load of oil around house and hose was perished badly

this cause the engine to run rich and not idle etc

i think half the probs of peoples cars runnin rich is due to this

mind u the hose was not easy to see
it was a 7m gte in a soarer

so underneath its hard to see

but if anyone ever has rich problemns check for vac leaks

im goin to invest in a smoke machine to help me diagnose these problems easier

its best to double and tripple check yr hoses properly

If that dyno graph is of a 3SGTE, I'd be assuming it's coming on boost at the 90km/h mark (I prefer it when they put it against RPM!)

To really see what the AFR is like though, you really need to have a MAP comparison too...

It actually looks pretty good at the "lean" end if it's off boost, but is way too rich later on.. Should only really hit a 11.5AFR at worst (With a stock tune) and most aftermarket tuners tune to around 12 for safety, and 12.5 for full on performance (On a turbo car that is)

Hmmm I should really visit a dyno... I need to find out what my A/F ratios are up to!

10 to 1 air fuel is normal at wide open throttle for a std ecu

both nissan and toyota do this for safety

my 1uz hits 10 to 1 anytime the tps sees over about 90%

it is called wide open throttle mode

u will find when fittin a unichip or safc taking fuel out up hi makes power
