Go the crayons.
Thanks for that, it will be a great help.
One question though (for the non-electrically minded people like me) ;
Is the need for the two relays because of the normally closed switch ?
If that is so, can one realy be a smaller ratuing than the main power driver relay ?
Also, since I'll have two fans (Ford EL setup), do you repeat the cct for the second fan, or can the signal relay drive a separate relay for each fan such that you end up with 3 relays in total ?
Pretty please revise the diagram to suit, as my drawing skills are not like yours
Cheers

Where were you when I was confused... Trying to work it out was a real headfuck.
That's a good diagram.

Just a disclaimer, there is a fair possibility that it can be done markedly easier if you have an aftermarket ECU. Maybe even with a standard ECU (though I doubt it).

i challenge anyone else to try and draw an example of a remote thermostat housing WITH A DODGY MOUSE .... and then forget to label it
Allan - holden relays can git fvcked. I have shown the pins of your STANDARD 5 PIN HORN RELAY available just about everywhere.
Baaachchcuhueuyyyyyyyyyy - you have the correct idea
The left hand relay simply turns power on to feed to the second (temp switched) relay, so that the fan isnt turned on when the car is turned off.
THUS, you are correct, and for two fans you can have just 3 relays, with the right hand relay being duplicated for each extra fan. I would only bother doing this if each fan has a separate thermoswitch though. If they run off the same control, its not necessary.
Remember though... each relay can handle only 30amps.

ok, quick Q
I blew my 30A fuse due to stupidity, and only had a 40A handy to replace it. I take it this means I'm gonna blow my relay if anything goes wrong before my fuse, so I should most liekly change this back to a 30A... yes?

theoretically yes... but the MAIN reason you have a fues in power cables is so that if your power cable were to SHORT out onto the chassis, it does not catch fire and burn the whole car down.
When unfused power cable shorts to earth the cable itself acts like a fuse... going red hot, welding to the chassis, and eventually melting the wires insulation to the point of catching fire and possibly xploding the battery
Greg, you should be fine..... 10A difference is close enough If you are concerned though, replace it for peace of mind. Myself personally i wouldnt care (both relays and fuses are disposable items IMHO)

hey allan for any other car apart from holden i would never use a holden relay
if u accidently plug a holden rtelay into a normal relay setup u can blow fuse
just for future sake i prefer the std bosch
or just get toyota relays from wreckers
2nd hand toyota and nmissan relays are the best

Can't you redraw it though
Pwetty pwease .......
I'll be using a holden cct/realy board for obvious resons, so I'll make sure that I have the correct connections on the relays

The 7M didn't have thermoswitch for fans from factory but there is a spare hole in the thermostat housing that one fits in. This switch was from an SV21

Shouldn't the wires on the second relay be on 30 & 87a instead of 87 & 87a?
