3S FE front engine seal? Tue, 03 May 2005 03:20 Go to next message
hi,
I have to change this seal in my girlfriends 88 camry and am wondering if anyone knows the sequence to do it all in? the only way i can see how to do it is to take the engine out as the engine mount is about 3mm from the timing cover leaving no room to take it off and im not keen on taking the motor out to just change a simple seal.
any help appreciated.

you could always take off the engine mount and support the engine weight with a hoist from the front hook.

You are going to have to take off:

1) Drain oil
2) PS Belt, Accessory belt
3) Crankshaft pulley
4) Timing covers
5) Tensioner
6) Timing belt
7) Crankshaft gear
Cool Sump
9) Oil pump

Then replace the front seal. And put it all back together.
