Celsiors + Qld Prestige Number Plates = Difficulties

just a warning as i tried to put my existing prestige plates (6 chars + space) on my celsior to find that the recessed area between the lights is too narrow. could mount brackets, but would be illegal due to light not shining on them.
i myself am planning to take them apart and saw the perspex/metal off each end to narrow the plate, but just thought id put up a warning here for anyone wanting that style of plate or who, like me, already has them and is buying a celsior.

I think it is the same with all imports. I had to bend the edges on my gz20 soarer.

its not like normal plates.
thats why i was sure to mention that they are qld prestige ones.
theyre perspex with a metal backing surrounded by a sealed frame. there are 8 allen keys to take off before you can 'unframe' the plate, and the plate doesnt just screw into the bumper. You have another piece of metal that mounts to the car and you affix the plate to that using allen keys through the bottom of it (results in no screw holes and no bending of plates due to wear and tear).
what im doing is unframing and grinding down the perspex/metal insert then cutting the frame to fit before reframing and mounting.
after im finished it shouldnt look like its been touched.

me neither, but thats the ?best? way i can think to make them fit. Its either that, cut/modify my rear lights or bumper, or sell the plates.

Depending on how long your plates are (works with Vic plates)....you can take the tailights out and tuck the ends under the lights.
As long as the numbers/letters can be seen. Dont think they'd fuss about not being able to see the corners.

like i said. not normal plates.
the perspex is approx 10mm thick. i thought of that which was the other option i had in mind whilst unframing them. but the metal behind (with the actual letters) is stuck to the perspex and im not trying to unstick it because (knowing my luck) it will peel paint off the metal.

that seems to be the cause of all my probs...
