hey all,
can anyone tell me if there are any places in melbourne that would be able to do some work for my "3tg". i would like to get someone who is familiar with the engines that can prep the block for me such as decking, acid dip and boring and honing.

Thanks for the help, Calvin

I've just built one, hasn't been started yet. All the machining was done by TDC engines, 5/13 Turbo Drv, Bayswater, 9720 7620. As I said, it hasn't been started but turns over by hand alright (they didn't assemble it).

The other place I've heard of is in Beech Street, Nunawading. I can't remember the name of the shop but Beech Street is really short and there's only one machine shop there, its not far from Kilsyth so take a drive. Apparently they used to do all the machine work for Sean Malony (?) the 2TG guy in Richmond (if your playing with 2TG's then you should have heard of him by now!!). I spoke to them a while ago and they seemed to be familiar with these engines, and their prices seemed OK.

For parts I found Pistons Auto Parts, 1/3 Power Road, Bayswater, 9729 9522, I dealt with Lindsay, were really helpful and knew these engines and the 3T conversion. He even had a look out the back cause he thought he still had a set of pistons already machined to suit (flycuts). And his price for a set of pistons was about $100 cheaper then Repco or Bursons for the exact same thing. Plus he knew the chain guides and timing bits.

PS. If your interested in a full factory EFI setup inc AFM, manifolds, ECU, and electronic dissy, or just after a bit of general info then feel free to call me on 0423 021 523

Some of them. The big banana shaped one is available, and the tensioner (?) is available. I think you can get them in japan but to get them over here they have to be ordered in bulk lots of 100, or so I was told. I'm using a modified job butdon't ask until i get it running and see if it actually works.

If you really want to get serious, "Astralian Precision Engine Parts", 2/5 Sherwood Crt, Wantirna Sth, 9887 1299, make custom forged pistons to suit "racing, vintage and industrial applications". They were familiar with 2TG's when I spoke to them, but having decided against using a turbo i couldn't justify $1000 for pistons, but as i said, if you want to get serious!!!!

Has anyone from the club done a full house 2TG?? Forged pistons, 3T crank, turbo (a good one, not some stock CT20), etc, etc??
