I'm fairly sure the JZZ30 runs an electronic sender whilst the earlier A70 Supras & earlier series Soarers run a mechanical sender with speedometer cable.

Yep toyota want $350 PLUS the cost of shipping from japan. For anyone thats interested the car drives fine without the speedo driver, not even an error code is displayed.

Doesn't the speedo driver from the autobox bolt directly to the manual box?

Negatory, it's too small.

From what i saw the piece that sits in the gearbox just has 2 wires coming out of it. I need the piece that sits in the gearbox for a digital display (i think some jza70 ones are different) that is all. At the moment i have the hole blocked off with a bung and a plate, not very ideal. It is a little leaky. The best way i can describe the way it looks is a dynamo off a bike that is used to generate electricity for the light on the front.

Normally the electronic speed sensor bit is the same between autos and manuals.
U can unscrew the electronic sensor off my UZS131 autobox, and screw it to my MA61 W58.
Likewise I can put my W58 speedo cable onto the UZS131 box.
Its just the speedo gear that changes, and thats matched to the diff.
If you don't understand I'll try and take some pics tomoz night

The actual part was too small for the driver off of the auto trans to fit into the manual one. I have no idea why i also thought they were interchangeable but i guess not. I understand what your saying about the gears though.

I am also after the internal speedo drive cog on the r154 as my one arrived without one. Let me know how you go or if anyone knows of where to get these from.?.
