Because a proper CF/Nomex bonnet for most cars the size of the AE86 is around 3.5-4kg or less depending on the type of manufacture. This isnt a CF bonnet anyway, its a "Carbon look" bonnet.

Once bonnets are ready, full payment will be taken.
Weight has not yet be confirmed yet, maybe lighter.
WE can produce FULL CF from this mould be be assured with be very expensive. if you are willing to pay for full cf, they can me manufactured. Not too sure on price of full cf.

3-4 kg can be done, but it will not have a show finish, it will be race finish look, and lightest also wont be the best quality.
They will have no coating, so you will be able to feel the fibres. kevlar is heavy so no point using it and nomex will not give structural stabiltly on the bonnet.
We can do it out of dried vaccum, this gives max vac so there is minimal resin embeded into it.
For full race carbon bonnets you will be looking at $2300 and will not give a nice finish. It wont be 100% full CF, looking at about 80%.

Ok, the looks dont bother me as i will be painting it so it blends with the rest of the car and so i can run sponsors logos there too. The bonnet would be used for race purposes anyway.
Im currently investigating building my own, and ill be able to see whether its viable for a oneoff for my car soon. Thanks for the price though ill definately keep it in mind.

When we produced the bonnet, i measured up the clearance to a 4age and told freddy all the dimensions and clearances, so the vent should be able to clear the 4age's, but I will test it first i suppose thats the best way once they are made.

Hi guys,
Just spoken with Freddy, clearance should be ok if you dont have anything sticking above the rocker cover but i will test it.
The mould is all finished, but we are waiting for the carbon fibre to come from japan. We are still looking at another 1 week wait on the carbon fibre i think.
Will keep you updated once production starts.

Production will start tommorow. We will try to have 3 bonnets completed this week. I will try and get pics as soon as the first bonnet is done.

ok guys,
Really bad news and im really out of luck these days, bad patch i tell ya. Like I said previously we have everything to produce these bonnets except the damn large carbon sheets which are totally unavailable at the moment without being ridicously priced.
Anyhows, weve been screwed around with the carbon supplier and that has put further delays to the final stages of the bonnet. I apologize to all for those waiting and hope you can hang on that extra bit longer till the finish product as I am tearing my hear out too!!
Freddy will be overseas for next month so as soon as he gets back, I will keep following this up. My plan was to get some bonnets done b4 he leaves but thats gone outta the window. Its unfortunate guys but we will get there with bigger and better products soon.
Expect more movement in start october with these bonnets.
