Braking dfifference? Wed, 20 November 2002 02:03 Go to next message
How much diffence in braking power would crossdriller slotted rotors and sports pads make to the stock brake setup on the front of a RA40?
I noticed that dba has the crossdrilled slotted rotors available now and it would seem a much cheaper upgrade than replacing calipers and struts and rotors?

this brake setup will only be very efficent under very high braking load, eg when racing on a track constantly slowing down from high speeds,

Good quality pads will make a big difference, the drilled and slotted rotors will only make a difference when you are really giving the brakes a hard time and they start to get really hot, like on a race track. They do look cool though. Shocked

stick with the slotted units - crossdrills are a waste of time and money unless its a race car ..

a good set of pads and slotteds on a ra40 will pull up quite sweetly ..

Ill be putting premium pads and slotteds on my ta22 - the crossdrills cost about 80 bux extra a side - that money can go into good pads - and rebuilt front calipers

DBA has the cross drilled sloted rotors for $140 each while the slotted are $125 each. On their website they say that even tho crossdrilled should be marginally worse in standard raod conditions, they find that they perform better than slotted.
Eh go figure. I will give it a try anyways.

the life span of a disc which is cross drilled is less of a slotted vented disc.

Cross-drilled rotors are much more likely to crack under stress. Seriously, they're nothing more than wank factor on a street car.
