I garantee this turbo is not a Chinese Turbo, infact I purchased it direct from Garrett in the USA. The writing in the front cover has been sanded off for a smooth polished finish.
Here is a photo of it before the polishing.
The polishing was done by a guy who polishes show cars and bikes as a full time job for a living!
I am open to offers however I have already been offered $1800 but looking at a little bit more.
Here is what i am offering.
Hey for $2085 I'll do:
1. GT42 Turbo ($3050)
2. Show Polished Front Cover ($200)
3. Postage to you ($30-50)
4. 5" SS USA made exhaust V-Band ($130)
5. 5" SS 15cm Long flared pipe to suit above V-band and Turbo.
So for what i paid $3500 for new you get for $2085 new unused.
Here are some more pictures to put it in perspective, i don't think people understand just how big it is.
Rear dump pipe comparrison with a AA battery. Note the rear wheel is 88mm so its looks much smaller there due to perspective.
Front polished cover (batteries not included) Comes free with a book on "how not to suck up pedestrians"
Mug shot - side on with V-Band dump pipe
Cheers

Don't worry mate, noticed from the pics its plain bearing, looking for ball bearing, but I am sorry to hear you payed so much for it, as the plain bearing versions are available in australia for $1200-$1500, depending on availability, I had 2 of the bigger 1000hp versions recently. Good luck with the sale, looks trick, and the aussie 800 version doesn't have this nice big front cover on it.

not sure where you "saw" that in the pics, but the GT series of turbos from garret are all ball-bearing

No he is right, GT is the cut of the wheels and turbine and housing design, it doens't have much to do with the cartridge.
Many people sell these as ball bearing. I just like to be honest.
As for the price.
I know that is how much they sell for but what people don't take into account is the things that have been done to the turbo (i know what its like i did the same thing.) So all these extras which you would have HAD to buy later (maybe at a higher price) are packaged. Look past the tag and into what is given for the price.
Value for money I think its a great deal.
cheers

Most GT series turbo's are ball bearing, and so far I am yet to see one of the smaller frame GT35 type turbo's in plain bearing Draven, but the bigger GT42 and GT45 do in fact come in plain bearing, and are reasonably priced, and I have personally owned 3 of the plain bearing 1000hp versions of this turbo in plain bearing, the cartridge less housings cost me $825. I have seen pictures of the smaller ones in plain bearing, but not common. Thanks for setting me straight though
Its a nice lookin turbo though, one thing I remembered after my post is that I want a ball bearing 800hp version, but it only comes with the shit looking front cover on it, with a 3 1/2" inlet and 2 1/2" hose style outlet, not like the bad boy in the pics on the plain bearing version which is the same as the 1000hp ball bearing version.
Hmmmmmm, decisions decisions, either plain bearing and big cover or ball bearing and shit cover.................

yeah, you could make a smaller dump, but 5" would look awsome in any engine bay.
$1850 is the latest price drop!
