harmonic balancer on 4agze, can i use 4age one. Wed, 20 November 2002 02:13 Go to next message
Ok,

Turbo Gze in a sprinter, running the aircon also...
since we have put the gze in, the pulleys no longer line up.

can we use an old 4age one so that the aircon pulley line up?

cheers

Freak yeah, the crank pulley's are swapable from ge to ze to 20v.....

*A/C pulley offsets....**i had the same trouble...

it is not the crank pulley that makes the a/c pulley offset, the ze a/c compressor pulley is a different offset compared to a ge one, not the crank.
the problem if that a ze a/c mount has no tensioner, but a ge one does...
if you put the alternator where the s/c was (like me, so you can tighten the water pump belt)..

you need to use the ge a/c mount as it has it's own belt tensioner, but then you also need a ge a/c compressor for the pulley's to line up....

we are using the GE air comp and all brackets, thats why i believe that gze harmonic balancer doesnt line up,

so i can use a ge harmonic balancer, thats all i needed to know,

I'm pretty sure the ze and ge are the same except for the back row having a larger diameter.

They are definitely the same. I used the harmonic balancer I bought to change the timing belt on my 4age yesterday when I changed the crank pulley on my 4agze.

Mmmmmmmm, 175mm crank pulley - I love boost Very Happy

yeah they are the same, that is they line up with the wwater pumps and alternator. But it doesn't line up with the a/c comp from GE motor the GZE crank pulley doesn't stick out far enough, whereas the GE pulley does. All to do with avail. space for front wheel drive.
