the EFI 2TGEUs, complete with loom, computer, gearbox RRP is around $1300 at wreckers, or around $800-1000 with carbies. This is with a 3mth warrantee.
Second hand they go for between $600-800 for one in reasonably good condition with carbies. Any cheaper than $500 and chances are its in bad condition. if you find one thats been rebuilt recently for less than $1000 its a good buy, considering they cost at least $1500 to get someone to rebuild one for you.
I've heard they are reasonably hard to find in Perth, but theres plenty here in adelaide so just get someone to transport one over for you.

sure do!! hehe.
there was a dude (sammeh?) in the for sale section selling the lenses and surrounds for $80 a couple of weeks back, go thru the "parts for sale" and give him an email to see if he still has them. Hes in Canberra i think but will post them across for you.
The clear lenses would definately suit a tiger mica celica better than the orange ones.
I've got a complete 2TGEU (big valve yamaha- #260) in the shed you can buy, its got the head off to check the pistons and bore size, but everything looks good/stock, i want at least $350. It would suit a rebuild as i have personally never had it running, i planned to rebuild it but got another project and need the cash. i transported a 3TG and misc parts (other project) from Perth 2 weeks ago for $110, so it should be roughly the same price going the other way. i can send pics if your interested.

OPERATION CELICA
Thanks, but im really chasing the carby model, as i want no troubles bolting it in and running it. May have found a 2TG here, suprisingly in my brother in laws workshop, if it is the correct engine, then great, as it also has a set of extractors, but probably needs a rebuild. Ill keep you guys posted, and hopefully will have he car online soon. I've dubbed this Operation Celica, even though it is my Girlfriends car, both her and i are gonna have alot of fun with it.
My aim is to beat your average lancer with an exhuast and body kit. So my thoughts - 2TG DOHC carby, extractors, 2' exhaust, muffler and a k&n filter. Should push over 130hp (apparently)
Really need a set of those indicators!!

yeah i was quoted $1500, mates rates, for a rebuild, but like he said to me theres absolutely no way you could get a real quote on a rebuild for a 25yr old engine... the bore could be in good condition, if its not you gotta get new pistons and rebore it, the oil pump could be shot, and theres the added extras like "while you got the head off... you might aswell get new cams, port and polish, blue-printed, etc...."
I've talked to people that have spend around $2000, almost stock rebuild, and they were happy with what they got.
I came to the conclusion that the parts for these engines were fairly cheap (like use 2T parts where applicable), and if i was ever to get a 2TG rebuilt i would DIY, much cheaper, its not worth spending over $1500 for a 25yr old engine, you could buy a recently recond, slightly worked complete 2TG for less. if you wanted reliability go for something newer (4AGE).
I've got a spare 2T in the shed to practise on, and i've got the repair manual for them (if anyone needs a page scanned i could probably do it).

yeah white side indicator lenses would look cool with the clear front ones, but unfortunately the word "ricey" wasn't around in the 70s when toyota was making TA22s.
Theres a few people that have used the VT commodore side indicators, as they are newish looking and white. not sure how hard they are to replace the old ones with. it would definately look different.

I've just spent close to $3000 on rebuilding my 2TG.
Well not really rebuiling but building a hybrid 3TG. Cleaned out block, bored 40thou and honed, new pistons ring and pins, new bearings everywhere and new seals and gaskets, rebuild carbs, completly balanced...pretty much every thing new. still have to work out accelerator cable worries at the pedal end before it can go in.
also twin k&n air filters @ $117 each! bit pricey but for ten year warrenty I think it's not bad.

I had Terry at Cooparoo Engineering do all the hard work.
he also sent the things away to get balanced, but other than that I still got a bare block back and I've built the motor myself. The only REAL mods to the motor is a 3T crank and block with 40thou oversized pistons, this does not put the displacement to near 2L but probably about 1.85L
40thou is 1mm
any other questions feel free to ask

Hi fellas,
I have a complete 2TG i want to sell, it is complete, quiet and non-smokey. The engine comes with the twin 40mm solex carbys, air cleaners, exhaust manifold. You have a TA22, so the conversion is a straight forward bolt-up. I'm selling it all together for $600 (with the carbys), I have access to shipment, if you don't live in SA.
BTW: It has the original toyota head (compression of 9.8, instead of the more common compression of 8.8 with the yamaha head.
I also have some salvagable parts from a 1974 TA22 available (front end damage).
