When I fitted the hilux diff to my TA22 I found that the factory TA22 cable was perfect once I spread the fingers a bit. Have a look at that.

On the end of the hand brake cable there is the bit with the fingers that holds the cable into the backing plate. Its these fingers that needed to be spread a tad.

I see that you've got ma70 discs though, would this idea still apply to the std hilux brakes?

Yeah I tried it on the early Hilux backing plate it also worked. But you'll have to double check with what you have. I'm not even sure if the RA23 cable is the same as the TA22 Confused

I used hilux cables right up to the hand brake then used the original short piece with the tread on it very easy. up near the short end i have a half moon piece which the hilux cables runs through and the original short cable hooks into.

But don't they have crimped fittings on the end that you can't re-crimp?
