alternator - where is the sensor that tells it how much to put out? Fri, 06 May 2005 06:58 Go to next message
I tried three different alternators today, and they all only were putting out 11-12 volts.

I am wondering if whatever it is that tells them how much power to put out is malfunctioning or some extra resistance somewhere in the wires.

Either that or 3 dud alternators Confused

rob - where you measuring them at 2000-3000rpm??

Next thing to test. The "S" wire on the 3 pin alternator plug should be connected to the battery, test that - might be a blown fuse.
