supra 5 spd on 4A-GE speedo drive? Wed, 20 November 2002 23:36 Go to next message
What have people done to solve incorrect speedo signals after doing this conversion?
My speedo's gone from being out by only 2% to being out by 25%! When I'm doing 80 km/h my speedo says I'm doing 100.
Dellow put me on to a place that can setup a little reduction gearbox for the cable, but they are talking about $200+.
Anyone else dealt with this problem?

Do you know what ratio diff and tyre size the car your gearbox came out of had? I thought that most toyota speedos had similar ratios with differences in final drive allowed for in the gearbox. If you can find a car similar to yours for final drive etc maybe you can get the speedo drive gears from that. I have read on the net the somewhere the different speedo drive ratios available for the W boxes but cant remember the web page.
From the sounds of it something funny is going on though because 25% is a huge amount of variance.
