Steering is completely different, KE is rack and pinion while TE has a steering box. Have seen it swapped, but there is a fair bit of work required. Easier to cut mounts off TE crossmember and weld to KE crossmember. Gearbox mount will fit as there are extra holes there already for it to bolt to (from hazy memory).
Thanks Purple Beastie thats what I needed to know. Any one done this conversion and changed the rack and pinon onto the TE72 cross member? how hard was it? What was involved?
Just to clarify, I meant change engine mounts not the rack mounts. If you can avoid it you really don't want to mess with steering as even a couple of degrees out can really screw your handling.
See http://www.tassie.net.au/~jar for info on the engine mounts.
