my interior fan stopped today. the one for the climate control and all that.

i checked the fuse box under the bonnet. nothing there.
is this the only fuse box. i've looked around in the front heaps for another one, like under the dash and eveywhere, but can't find anything...

unfortunatly i don't have the manual for the stupid car

cheers

yeah thanx
found it this mornin.

but unfortunately no luck.. no fuses there that are for the fan or anything

there is a relay and crap on the passenger side kick panel with for the heater/a.c
but i can't see anything wrong there.. you can hear the relay click when you turn the fan to on, so i'm assuming that's ok..

anyone know where i might get a wiring diagram for my car????????????????????

I had the same problem on my 20 year old cressida, diagnosed it using a voltmeter and found out 12vdc existed on the wiring harness of the blower motor ...so I pulled the blower out and the culpirt was the carbon brush, change to a new one, source it from a jap alternator carbon brush,I had to trim it to fit ..good luck

new update

i replaced the relay, circuit breaker, and little 10A fuse with a mates ones from his cressi, didn't fix it.. and mine worked in his.. so that cancells out the easy stuff.
i'm yet to connect the fan up directly to the battery to make sure it's goin, but im pretty sure it's not the fan.. it jsut stopped working one day.. didn't die a slow degrading death and never made any kinda funky noises..
had a quick play round with a test light, jabbed her into the socket that leads directly to the fan.... no power there (in either lead).. so yeah.. something funky happenin in the wiring between the relay and the fan, or something like that.
the relay does click when you turn the switch to on.
i really need a wiring diagram.. haha

any suggestions would be great
cheers

The 4 speed switch does die on many Toyotas.
Look into replacing that.

check for power at the fan plug - any light bulb will do and old front park lights from celica have just the right sized plug.

if no good then trace back to the resistor block (in air flowbetween distrubutor air-box and output of aircon cooler box)

if no good still, then back to switch.

my MA61 fan started to play up a bit then it suddenly died - when removed, it would run randomly when held upside down - it went in to bin and i sourced another fan motor from wreckers.

By this I mean the resistor block (thanks for pointing out Chuck, not that you probably realised you did)

yeah.. there's no power at the fan plug.

the relay clicks when i move the switch along the from off to 4... wouldn't this indicate that the switch is good??

not quite sure what you mean by the resistor block, i'll have a look tomorrow. do you jsut mean like a potentiometer/varistor kinda deal for the three speed increments.. or something else.. i found a little white box with a socket goin into it today up under there.. dunno what it was for.. looked like a crap load of resistors, capacitors and who knows what.. i hate auto electrics.. living hell

I don't know if anyone said about the fan resistor but replace that if you only got high speed fan...

Cheers.

nah.. fan's fine.. took it out and tested in on the batt.

have made a little progress... everything from the switch to the relay seems to be fine. there is the constant power to one of the little leads, and power to another one when switched to on.... However.. there is no power to either of the large leads that go into the relay, and presumably go through the power supply a bunch of other crap and the fan.. so i have to some how work out why there is no power to that part of the relay.. i'm pretty sure i've narrowed it down to a fat blue wire with a white stripe.... but where it comes from????.......................................

dunno if anyone can help much more, unless they have done similar things and happen to know where this wire comes from, in the engine bay...
i put a new engine in a month or two ago, so chances are it's a connection or something in the engine bay that's been disturbed... but im just not sure what
