4 wire O2 sensor; what wire's what? Thu, 21 November 2002 04:07 Go to next message
I picked up a Toyota 4 wire (heated) O2 sensor today, as my mount is way too far from the head for a single wire sensor to work. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could tell me which wire is which?
There is 1 white, 1 blue & 2 black.

I assume the 2 blacks would be earts (but why 2?), the white the 12V for the heating element and the blue for the signal to the ECU. Am I close?

1 black = positive 12 volt supply for heater
2nd black = negative for heater
dosnt matter which way around.
blue = positve o2 for ecu
white= negative o2 for ecu
i have six new ones sitting in a draw at work for the race cars.
but on my 4ag i use a motec lambda one but bit over the top for a normal car as they are $800 from memory or $1200 with lcd lambda display.

p.s the above is from memory but 99.9% sure its right

Ah, thanks for that.
One thing though, the ecu only has 1 O2 sensor wire, and I thought all O2 sensors only had the 1 signal wire. Hence the single wire sensors.
Or would I just ground the white wire?
