How does a Crank angle sensor Work? Sun, 08 May 2005 11:06 Go to next message
thats what I kinda need to know, I got one on a 4agze.

My problem is I have no spark from the coil packs, now these are working properly, I am pretty sure the igniter is working properly, but does the igniter gets its "ok" from the CAS after it goes into the ecu?

My questions are, How do you tell when you have the CAS at TDC?

And it has 4 wires out of it, what do these do? is it like one power, one ground, and 2 pick offs?

is probably covered somewhere in the tech articles on <www.autoshop101.com> ?

A quick google search of it suggests:
<http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h40.pdf>
and
<http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h25.pdf>

but if you have the time and bandwidth - download all the tech articles as they're quite a usefulread.

Ok thats good now I know how the system works, but I still need to know:

How do you tell when the CAS is at TDC?

From what I can tell in those articles it looks like my problem is those 4 lines. NE, G-, G1, G2

G- will run to a ground. but I can't tell is NE suppose to have power on it 12V or something.

there is no 12v supply to magnetic sensors,

take it out and get someone to test it on a scope and that will tell you if it is working correctly

so you have swapped engines and now it wont run??

it will be a wiring problem, you have 1 earth wire and 3 pickup wires inside, to get on TDC you must like up one of the pickups on the single tooth and put it in

I am 100% the wiring is correct to the CAS, so now I am thinking there is a problem in the igniter, cause this igniter wasn't off the same person I got everything else.

Thanks for your help guys
