AE82 Twin Cam Fuel Light

Can anyone tell me why my fuel light is not working.....i ran out of fuel the other day on the way to school...got me out of class but yeah i would really like to know why its not working.

Probably because the wires cut somewhere There should be 3 wires going into the tank, shorting one of them (cant remember which one though!) should make the light come on.

yes, that would be them. Also, you may have a dead globe.
Is the fuel gauge still working? or is it just the light thats dud?

Sounds like a blown globe if the guage is still workin.

If you can get a copy of the Gregorys manual or the Max Ellery manual, thay have wiring diagrams that should point you in the right direction.
Getting the dash out isnt that hard, just time consuming cause of the amount if seperate bits of plastic you have to take off. Also, you can push the speedo cable back throught its gland in the fire wall a couple of inches to make it easier to unclip from the dash panel.
