If you drive nice (or even just shift nice) then a Sprinter or AE71 T50 will be cheap, bolt directly up and be remarkably long lasting.

I hesitate to say "bullshit" given that I don't know your experiences with T50s behind ZEs. However my first T50 lasted almost a year of drifting, autocrossing and street abuse behind a reasonably modified ZE. My second has lasted six months so far.
The synchros die due to my gear shifts but the rest of the box survives ok. T50s have a bad rep round here for some reason, but I haven't experienced it myself.
That said I am going W58 because then I know I can do all of the above and NEVER replace a box again.

OK, missed the point.
Sorry I just get a little protective about T50s since they cop so much crap yet have treated me very well.

i know this is a thread for boxes, but i didnt wanna start a thread for one simple question.
how much should i expect to pay for purchase and installation of a heavy duty clutch, with 60% extra clamping force for my 98 corolla?
my mate is installing one for me 2moro in the backyard, im giving him $300, which includes the clutch, installation, and machining of the fly if needed.
just interested as to how much im saving by doing this...

I'll vouch forthe T50. I got one behind my 4AGTE and it's still kicking on 19 months after the conversion. Mind you, I NEVER dump the clutch from standstill or do burnouts.
Also, I've bought a W5* adaptor bellhousing for added insurance...
