has anyone heard of a 3SGTE being fitted to an AE82?? i read in one of the toymods articles that it is POSSIBLE to do this, but havnt really heard of it being done? the engine is origionally east-west configuration as far as im aware so it might be able to go in... so yeah just curious because im tossing up on what to do in the future with my ae82 and saw this as an option i could explore....

so a 3sgte isnt from the toyota family then
yeh its possible theres a guy on here whos done it think his name is mikey something. But i have seen corollas with 4agze's converted to turbos that are just as quick as the 3s ones not to mention the 4age's work out to be "generally" cheaper than a 3s conversion.

lol yeah i was wondering what you were talking about... yeah i think it might be a bit of a mission putting a 3S in.. as u said i can get similar performance from a turbo'd 4AGZE and thats a bit easier to install than a totally different motor!!
Does any body know of a ball-park figure for a 4AGZE?? will people do a trade in on my GE??

halfcut for a gze should be round 1500-2k
dont think anyone will take it as a trade in you might be able to sell the engine on these forums for a few dollers.
you gonna do the install yourself or have a workshop do it?
workshops will charge you a fair bit prolly as much if not more than the cost of the half cut. It not that hard, really. could do it in a couple weekends if you've got a couple of mechanically minded mates

yeh labour will kill you + any parts you need to replace. But if you take the 4age out yourself and tow it to them, that'd save you some $$

yeah id probably do the transfer myself.. ive got one or two mates who are mechanics and my brother has done a few engine transplants on his old KE35 he had a few years ago..
although im still wondering wheather it will be worth doing all this work on my car, because if i want to do alot of work and make something go pretty quick id probably go for something with a bit more potential (RWD.. maybe an AE86...)
