Hey guys
Im looking at picking up a ae82 twin cam seca, in a few days, car has got 201,000kms on it right now, runs perfect, compresion test turned out all even, 2 lady owners its whole life.Has had 2 belt changes for regular service at 80k and 160k, and gearbox is fine also
How reliable will this thing be once i get it and drive it like any idiot does, with normal services of course, but as im buying it as a cheaper daily driver so i can get my datsun 260z up and running i don't really want it to blow up nor not start or run rough etc etc,
i will change plugs and do the cam belt, soonish,
but what are others situations and what do people feel about there reliability past the 200k mark

sounds like a go'er healthy compression is a good sign.
4a's can cop a bit of abuse and because the motor is a non interference motor, the timing belt change isnt as crucial. although if you postpone it for a long time it could giveway at a bad time or far away from home.
regular services with good oil will never hurt

I bought mine 18 mths ago with 210k and have since put 30k on it.
Have replaced CV joints and I'm in the middle of doing suspension. Thats it.
Mechanically it hasn't missed a beat. Although won't be long 'til 20v or GZE.
Mine's been a good experience. Hope yours is too.

The guy that I work with has over 330K on the clock - no probs, frequent services and not at 7500rpm for every gear change.
