Pretty stupid question, but whats the difference between an oil cooler and a trans cooler? I was told they are one in the same?

Thanks for the reply, but I was more after the differences in the coolers them self, not thier funtions. I have sinse found out that they are one in the same. An oil cooler can be used as a trans cooler and vice versa. I bought 2 identical units, used one for transmission and one for oil.
Cheers

Depending on where it is in the line of things, I'm assuming after the oil pump...The oil cooler will handle a lot more pressure as oil pressure gets a lot higher than a trans cooler...I presume you could use an oil cooler as a trans cooler, however not as good an idea the other way around...I might be slightly wrong here...But seeing as though no one has replied, I thought I'd add my thoughts.

Transmission coolers traditionally have smaller inlet/outlet lines hence have less overall flow. Engine oil coolers have larger inlet/outlet lines.
