There's heaps of red ones right? Will it make it super dooper hard to get off at the next 100k service?

read the packets
they generally have a torque rating for what torque will break the seal
Just dont get the one where u have to heat the crank up with an oxy just to get the bolt out

red is permanant AFAIK you cant get it off, unless you superheat to red hot temps.
not cool.
then again, the blue one is piss weak because its what we use on the motor screws for our RC Nitro motors.

Use Loctite 232 (or whatever the current generation is called) which is the pale blue stuff. It's called "Nut Lock". nut lock is strong enough to prevent vibrations or thermal expansion changes from shaking it loose, but still allow you to undo it again at a later date. If you use stud lock (red stuff) or bearing lock (green stuff) that fucker will never ever be removed again, avoid them except for their intended uses.
FWIW if you come across something some moron has used the wrong loctite on, heating it with a heat gun (or blowtorch) will free it right up in no time.
loctite is good shit but you have to use it right.

why you using loctite on crank bolt? unless your going to be spinning the engine to 12000 rpm i wouldnt use it. better of buying a brand new bolt. has it been coming loose?

No - just doing a timing belt and about to reassemble it all. I was told to use loctite on the carnk pulley bolt and on the odler pulley bolt. The bolt i in good condition. I might ust use some weak stuff. I.e. the blue one.
I'll check it out at repco. I'm going to be doing everything up to the correct toque settings so it should be alright without it I guess

all the crank vibration (and there's a lot) ends up in the flywheel and the front pulley (aka harmonic balancer on bigger motors) so yes it's always a good idea to loctite the crank and flywheel bolts.

Get a new bolt.
You havnt said what type of engine you have but I got a new one from toyota for my 4AGZE and it was about $5
They had also upgraded it to a larger head and washer due to the standard one being a little weak.

loctite didnt work on your 'zorst because ALL loctites are broken down by heat (except loctite 102 maybeye, but that is just superglue anyway)
i'd reccomend getting a new bolt too, as main pulley bolts in many cars are torqued to yield when installed (thats plastic deformation, or permanant stretch)

I used the loctite labeled for nuts or bolts, cannae remember which. more a precaution than required, but my crank pulley hasn't fallen off yet
