Hi Dave, dont know if u would have any trouble with the alternator as mine is on the otherside under the intake manifold ,as in the sw20 mr2.
lt would certainly be further away from the firewall as apposed to the ct26 . Firstly why dont u move the alternator to the other side ,An alternator bracket shoudnt cost v,much it would also give u more room to work on the car l know that u would have to modify the wiring a little bit but ultimately it would be worth the effort .From what l could see ,u seem to have done a reasonable job on the manifold ,what exactly is the problem with it does it leak from poor welding or cracks ? lf l can help give me a call , 0411288027
Cheers Charlie

Long story, don't know if it leaks or not. Going to find out that when she gets running. I MIG'd it first up and took some dodgy advice and brazed a couple of areas I couldn't get to with the MIG. Anyways, took it out to my old mans and had him teach me a lesson with the oxy and I've gone over 'most' of the welds. I found a lot of holes around the MIG which leads me to believe there's probably still more I didn't find. And also, the areas with the braze are a bit contaminated by it.
I actually modified the wiring (SW20 loom) to get the alternator on that side. With the standard bracket I was lead to believe I would have had to relieve the rear corner to fit the alternator. I wasn't really ready back then to start experimenting too much.
