I need a little help Sat, 14 May 2005 12:44 Go to next message
Hi everyone, ive owned a 91 SX Celica for about 2 years, ever since i was young watching the grp A's in the world rally in the early 90's I have been interested in celicas, i would have loved a grp A but being under 25 insurance companies dont like me so i had to settle for an SX. Anyways about 2 years ago someone drove through a give way sign and almost wrote my car off, the repair job was less than satisfactory and after a lot of stuffing around i finally got all the little problems sorted and a 4WD reversed into my car and f**ked it up again, ive just gotten it back and a much better job was done this time. Anyway ever since the first accident my car has never felt the same too me, but everytime i go to sell it i cant do it because i like it too much to part with it. What i want to do is give it a bit of a new life again and get it fixed right up.

Its an auto which i really dont like anymore, if i was to convert my car to manual what sort of cost would be involved and would it be as simple as aquring all the parts and fitting them, would there be any modifications needed to mount the manual gearbox or any of its running gear??

Also i know that the 5S-FE is a bit of a weak engine but are there any lower cost mods i can do to give it a bit more top end power without sacrificing the low end, ive currently got a replacement K&N in the original airbox and a 2 1/4 cat back exhaust with a lukey sports muffler. After fitting these i noticed a small increase in power, im not after huge gains but a little more power combined with a manual box may just give me what im looking for.

Thanks in advance to anybody who takes the time to help me out:)

I dont wanna say this really as im sure u have come to love the car, but after 2 decent accidents, your car is not going to be the same. If u really want a manual and a bit more power, save your pennies, and sell this car when the time comes to get a group A. Once again its not much assistance to what u asked, but i think it will be alot better in the long run.
