RA65/RA60/SA63 1jzgte

I did a search and a quick read thru the 2jzgte+RA60 thread but I had to creat this thread cuz that's locked.
Somebody told me they had a friend with an RA65 powered by a 1jzgte.
I've got a 1ggte in my SA63 at the moment and i'm thinking "imagine what it would be like more power"
To be honest my aim is pretty retard but here it is.
I want to be cruising down the road at maybe 40km but my foot down and be able to break traction.
It's the only way i can think of at the moment to describe the amount of power i want. I don't know how many kw it will need to do this.
I'm not going to go by the egine swap guide in the tech docs cuz it's bit misleading.
But any info/experience would be great.
I understand this is a massive project and will cost alot of cash most of which i will never get back.
But i've been thinking about this for a few months now and i have to do it.
i know i'm going to ge the "just buy a supra" but ever since i bought my 1st SA63 i can't get enough of them, You might call them ugly but i call them beautiful.

It can be done, but there was a reason that toyota decided to length the wheel base/engine bay of ma61 when they put a 6cyl in it...
Why not get really crap 185/70 tyres? The 1ggte should have no dramas getting them to break traction
Cheers

the ma61 is like the sa63, except sexier.
A cheaper option for you, if you so badly want to keep that shell, is to go a single turbo conversion (like traction_issues off this forum used to have). Then you could light up first, second and 3rd no worries with that pissy little single spinner the sa63 has

Umm... why, Mookie? The 1G in the Sa63 is already a silly beast, and you want something *less* driveable? Spend the money on track days & driver ed or something.

Have you seen a 1JZ? The block is huge compared to a 1G - with a lead arrow, you won't exactly be going 'around' the track.

naturally I'll be upgrading suspension and things like that to make it legal so it shouldn't handle THAT bad i know it will be difficult tho.
I plan to do this over a year or so to make it both more affordable and easyer on my timetable.
I assume firewall work will have to be done god knows what i will do with the radiator/fmic.
but i figure a little bit every weekend it should be ready in no time.
P.S. sorry folks i'll be keeping the GA63 altho when/if i ever do this conversion i'll need somebody to drive the GA63 when we compare the 2

upgrading turbo will be cheapest and by far easiest, and you'll still crack 200rwkw, which is enough to chomp your diff in no time
firewall doesn't have to be touched - you can get away with it by mucking around with radiator supports and basically moving rad forward with a skinny thermo on it, and the front mount crammed in front of that.

traction_issues' car was actually twin turbo running Skyline GTR turbos.
Your 1G with a suitable single OR twin turbo set up will be able to break traction from 40 (infact from 40 will be easy).
The ability to break traction will in some way be related to how steep the power curve is and how much torque you are producing in that rev range.

Yeah well i figured breaking traction at that certain point is at the very edge of driveablity.
And that was the only way i could think of describig it.
It seem alot of people think the motor is too heavy for the car.
so maybe even a 7mgte ? or is that not any lighter ?

The motor is just fairly large, and while it's not stupidly heavy persay, it is MUCH longer and will ruin the balance.

So the 7mgte is out of the question then.
I'm not too worried about handling it's not like i'm going to take in targa or anything so that shouldn't be too much of an issue.
I'm going to ring around importers to see how much they go for.

So i'm assuming nobody has done this before ?
(or nobody here at least)
All i need now is a shell without a drivetrain.

Hey i did a quick search but i couldn't really find what i'm after so here are a few questions i've had buzzing around my head and can't find answers for.
So if anybody would help me it wold be great.
How much is a fair price for a half cut ?
is there any car that had the better 1j ?
Is the vvti worth it ?
what kind of price difference is their between vvti and non vvti
are there any weak spots i should look at ?
what kind of power can i expect from a stock motor with just a pod filter and exhaust ?
Also what kind of fuel economy do they get ?
Sorry for all the questions but most of them are asking for opinions not facts hence why the search didn't yeild much.
Thanks guys no doubt i'll be sourcing most of my parts from you guys.

How much is a fair price for a half cut ?auto $2500, manual $3500-$4000
is there any car that had the better 1j ?All TT's are same basically, get the one with correct sump position
Is the vvti worth it ?IMO, nope. Too much stuffing around.
what kind of price difference is their between vvti and non vvtinot sure
are there any weak spots i should look at ?Turbos blowing smoke, valve stem seals, water pump
what kind of power can i expect from a stock motor with just a pod filter and exhaust ?auto 160-170rwkw, manual 170-180rwkw
Also what kind of fuel economy do they get ?In a light car should be around 10km/L. That is what I averaged between highway and racing at QR

A to4e may make the same or more power as modded TT 1jz but the low down power will be extremely different.
I would still single turbo the 1g if you already have one in there though.

I see what you mean Mr 1jz but 200rwkw with a flat torque curve doesn't "feel" as much as 200rwkw with a peaky torque curve that you would have with a single turbo 1g.
Either way will be bloody quick in a 1100ish kg car though

well he wants to break traction while moving...
a peaky tourque curve will do this at the top of a gear, and if he changes hard into the next one it will continue to spin
but as you know the 1JZ is different, whereas 1st and 2nd gears in general are completely useless too me if i want traction...but who says I do

The main thing with losing traction I think is having a manual gearbox. From the limited driving I have had in my car, it hasn't slipped a wheel at all. It used to a little when I was stock turbos but that was only a single spinner.
Get a manual and either of the combos we speak of and you will have no trouble losing traction.
You know when you lose traction you don't go anywhere?
