Anyone out there seriously modding 22RE's?

Hi, I'm a newbie who is ready to seriously mod(atmo only)my lowlux 22r donk.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has acheived reasonable gains from mods done to a 22rc/re.
Also anyone with dyno figures.
I've only just bought my extra-cab lowlux & think its great except for its pitifull power output! I'm guessing approx' 60-70rwhp!!?? From previous engines i have built, i have a rule of thumb for evaluating the success of a performance built donk:
It should have a minimum of 50rwhp per litre, (Hence 120rwhp for a 22re).
What KW does a stock 22rc have from the factory?
What about a 22re?
I'm led to beleive that these donks arent big revvers, that in mind i would be happy with 100+ if i could get it.
I'm guessing the exhaust is very restrictive, also the viscous cooling fan would tax a fair wack given the size of the thing.
My 'Lux seems most effective changing gears at 4000 and only does 145k flat out! I reckon if my "popper straw exhaust" & "truck fan" were ditched, i'd atleast get it off the clock (160k's). It would be nice if it pulled all the way to 5500rpm.
BTW, it also g-teched at a 21sec Quarter Mile (Yeah laugh, i would if it wasnt mine). Sub 17's would be good.
Any comments/thoughts/info guys?

Hi,
I don't know of any people if Australia doing much work on 22 engines. Most of us here go for an 18RG, 1GGTE or something else and chuck the old boat anchor 22R.
However, they do a fair bit of modding of these engines in the USA 'cos they didn't get the twin-cam engines that we get over here.
They do a 22/20 hybrid engine which pulls about 150hp. I don't want to advertise other forums here, so PM me and if you want to know more.

What he said. It's possible to get power out of the 22R, but there are cheaper and better options available. The 22R was never designed to make power, so you're starting at a disadvantage if you go down that path.

Yeah, i kinda figured few people would bother with the 22r, but the 'lux isnt the car i get my "HP kicks" from (read: "pour my money into"), i have an atmo R31 GTS2 skyline thats punching out 160rwhp (and climbing), i'm aiming for 180-200 with it.
However, the ute just shits me to tears. Its probably, no, undoutedly the slowest car i've ever owned and as a result, i need to do something to it to stop my tears and shits!!
Keep the feed back coming guys.

you mighten'd improve your Q/M times, but if you stuffed a turbo diesel in there you'd make a great tow/recovery vehicle for the R31.
serisouly now, some folk seem to find 1ggte the way to go to improve lolux performance.
