Heyas, well the Celsior is supposed ot be in my position this friday, what things do I need to do before I am able to register it? oh and what things SHOULD I do as well.

1. Fluid change
2. New tyres
3. RWC
4. Fuel Filler restrictor
5. Flat drivers side mirror

not entirely sure what else I need to do, help appreciated, thanks.

Oh yeah and what oil, coolant and brake fluid do people recommend? 1UZFE Celsior, thanks.

fluids and gasses (all)
probably tyres
side-intrusion bars
unleaded fuel restricter
correct & legal mirrors (e.g. drivers mirror not distorted)
legal seatbelts
mount points for booster-seats & baby capsules
correct tyre placard
legal spare tyre and changing equipment
legal lamps (if required)
legal tinting (if required)
...

before you can get the RWC you have to have this all complianced. maybe talk to john at import bitz or similar personages (like yahoomotorsport in adelaide) who do this regularly (assist with import, you do the workshop work, they compliance car, you happy and profit)

thechuckster, you've listed what is required for a normal grey import.
If this car is over 15 years old, or fits into what used to be the 15 year rule, I think, but am not 100% sure, that all you need is the driver's mirror to be flat (not convex) & roadworthy.
Whoever you're buying it off should be able to get you more info though.

assuming it has never been registered in australia i suggest you speak to an engineer. they will give you a better run down on what they want to see. but the above list is generally what you will need.

Check that your tyres are DOT approved, if not chnage them.

As mentioned if your drivers side mirror is convex it will need to be changed to flat.

You may also need to do the unleaded filler but im not sure on this one as my car was diesel when i tokk it over the pits.

wagonist: yeah... i might be jumping the gun there a bit Wink

i just saw 'Celsior' and assumed it was a near-new yakuza-staff-car thing and guessed it was under 15yrs old.

in that case.. yeah, just a roadworthy - but they will look for legal tyres, filler, mirror etc during the inspection.

As far as fluids go

Oil - Penrite HPR15 (15W-60)
Coolant - Toyota red and distilled water - 50:50
Brake fluid - Castrol Super Response Dot 4
Gearbox fluid - Toyota Type 4 (Type IV?)
