First off all i have an ae82 red hatch, i love it.A month ago i decided to up grade the power of my red rocket. After i rang around for suiting motors for my corolla i had sent down from bris to mel a 4agze that cost $2800 at my frount one halh cut delived.
After one week of working out all the wiring loom and getting it close to driving i found that the motor had a blown head gasket after 5mins of it running and the hose blowing off almost spraying my best mate with boiling hot water.
A week later i had $200 put into my bank from asain auto spairs and a good luck because that is all you will get from us. i removed the motor and started to repair the head ,had it mechined and all the other stuff that had to be done it was put back togeather.
Now that i have the motor back in i am not happy that the thing still not going right and this is my problem, when i put the cams and belt on i dont know if i did it right because i think the car is still not running right due to this. There is two small lines just behined the timing gears on the metal backing whitch i lined the to dots on the cam gears when the first piston was top dead centre, have i done that part right?
there is no were near as much pulling power as there was before i removed the motor the only other thing i can think that i have done wrong is i have put the vac hoses on wrong some where .
I have been looking on the net for days and the only hose diagram i can find is the American one with the air flow meter when mine is the map censor can someone please help me or give me a name of a good 4agze mechanic in melbourne
You should only buy from someone that actually tests their engines before they sell them but its a bit late for that now
The dots should line up with the lines but make sure that there is no slack in the belt from crank to exhaust cam to inlet cam and all slack being between inlet cam and crank.
the best way to check this is to turn the crank 2 turns and make sure all marks line up.
take the top cam cover off and set crank to 0 degree and check the cam dots and lines line up.
The other thing to check is ignition timing and fault codes.
If you are still stuck take it to Toyospares 9720-3177 and just get fixed.
I Hope this helped and not just confused.
