Full lock are putting on a drift weekend in Tasmania. June 11 is a drift practice/demo day at Baskerville near Hobart.
June 12 is a demonstration and contest day at Symmons Plains.
Who is entering this? Any mainlanders coming down?
I may enter on the Saturday with my old blue corolla. My AE86 will be a better car but won't be ready till next year.

So fulllock are taking a leap further south. Intersting. I suggest you get everyone you know down to the event and hell even tell strangers to come Im guessing the more people there, the more likely it will be a repeat event later on...
Theyre probably testing the water on more locations for the drift nationals... goodluck with it, whats the track like down there? tight or open? take photos if you can.

The word of this Driftmania thing has spread around down here, and a few random people practacing at Baskerville lately have even had a go of "drifting". And then a few weeks ago it got out of hand. A few guys in Silvias and Commodores went "fully sick" and after spinning out a few times thought it would be good to sit in the middle of the track and do a few cooks and donuts. After cutting up a bit of the infield also the caretaker was not impressed. Previously the caretaker didn't care how sideways I got in my Corolla, but said to take it easy once I got on the grass because it makes it a bit bumpy for him latter in the ride on lawnmower. But sitting in the middle of the track doing burnouts is something else (not that I was there that day) but peole were told not to drift after that.
I was back at Baskerville yesterday, just for a look. There was quite a few random spectators because there was a rumour people would be practicing "drift". We found two Commodore utes having a good go. A fairly ordinary ute driven by a old man with a beard was makeing a bit of smoke. He was obviously trying to get it sideways at the beginning of the corner, and did a very good job of holding a long drift with good speed through the esses. I was impressed and wondered if I could keep up in my Corolla. He was followed by another commodore ute... team drift!
BUT... there was also a few old skool racers out as well that probably complained about dirt on the track or something (a few motorbikes also) and the caretaker got on the microphone.
"Excuse my, can we have everyones attention. There seems to be a misunderstanding. There is to be NO DRIFT untill the long weeking in June, for a number of reasons. And no drift practice is allowed untill then."
So that was that. Officially "drift" has not yet began in Tasmania, and can not, and will not happen untill June 11.

I entered on Saturday. It rained. I had a great time. Basicaly, it was just an extended practice time for me, and others happened to be watching. Which turned out to be a bit embarrasing as I crashed a number of times, and spun about 235 times. But held it together on the odd corner also. All the pannels on my car are stuffed Car goes great.
Did anyone get a picture of me old blue Rolla?
