MA61 master cyl upgrade/capabilities (urgent)

well, my master cyl has finally shat itself (being the last part of my brake system untouched).
Big question is, do I just get a replacement, or should I get an upgraded one to handle the R33 skyline calipers up front? I'm not concerned by the pedal being harder to push in, all I'm concerned about is the system, if I push hard on the pedal, will be able to put down a lot of clamping pressure without busting a seal.
any bolt-in or near bolt-in upgrades? I remember the mk3 master cyl being talked about, although it's a 15/16th?

Your MA61 Master should also be 15/16. If you like they way your brakes react and feel, simply buy a new one, if you'd like the ability to move a little more fluid with the brake sweep, have your master bored and kitted, you should be able to get an inch out of it with no ill effects.

The MA61 is 15/16ths as CLG has alluded to, whilst the MA70 item is 1" bore and has a larger booster as well.
The ports are similar position, but it can be made to fit.
I will be seeing what I prefer once I get my car going, but I'd be tempted to reaseal/resleeve the master cylinder.
CrUZida's feedback is that the balance is fine (as is Norbs), so stick with what you have
Cheers

PS - Thanks for the call Greg !!!

I'll vouch for my car feeling nice. I didn't do a full on emergency stop as they were new pads, but they felt poifect, as do CrUZsida's the last time I drove them.
I'd be just getting a new one.

no dramas mike - the dude expects it to be ready end of next week.
in that case I'll keep the current one - I like the pedal feel currently.

If I upgrade, I'll be fitting an R32 or R33 one (or at least trying too).
I would also put the Nissan 2 spots on the rear.
This way it should all be perfectly matched.
But, I have no need to do any of that yet.
Everything is A OK.

I plan to upgrade to a MkIII M/C next time I feel like getting covered in brake fluid. The stocker works fine but I'd like a slightly firmer pedal.

On the topic of MC upgrades and general feel of the brakes, my brakes are somewhat spongey. It doesn't sink to the floor slowly or anything, it just doesn't feel solid. I've tried different brake calipers and lines (up front) but it still wont give me a solid feeling pedal. The rears look to be good, no leaks. It still pulls up well enough but pedal feel basically sucks.
Could it be the master cylinder? I have bled the brakes many times every time with the same results.

Have you driven another A6?
In my experience, Toyota brakes are all somewhat spongey, and compared to driving Nissans, I much prefer the feel I have.

Well it worked out well for me that your master cyl shat itself. It means that while I was over at Mark's tonight I was able to flog your standard brakes & lines. Did you see the amount of muck they pulled out of your master cyl? Impressive stuff!
P.S. You are now minus standard brakes & lines.

there is no upgrade, only a change in piston displacement for driver preference in pedal feel/travel.
