side window seals for TA22 celica Sat, 21 May 2005 12:57 Go to next message
I'm fairly new to the game so hope to get advice about water proofing the side windows. Are seals available and are they easily replaced?

Also, you need to be an ironman to operate the window winders. Is it likely that parts will be required to fix this and are they available?

cheers,
Greg

You can buy the seals between the front and rear windows from Toyota or Rare Spares at something like $33 each. Make sure you get them for each side as they are different. Un-screw the cover on the top back section behind each door, take out the retaining screw at the bottom of the rubber section, and slide each seal out. Re-fit is reversal of the above.
For your *armstrong* windows take off all the door trims and see why its so hard to wind up and down, then spray some CRC / WD40 on the moving bits to see if that fixes it.

Thanks for the tips, they are very helpful

What is involved in replacing the other seals that have to do with sidewindows, ie the ones at the top of the side windows and under the roof chrome strips? Do they simply unclip?

Just don't get too carried away like I did on my old TA22. I lubed the windows so good they wound themselves down every time I drove the car! Laughing
